Cefalu

Saturday, October 25, 2008

Today we had no big plans so it was a day to spend some time in Cefalu. This is a well known resort which has a beautiful beach that stretches a mile or so from the city center toward the east. The weather is still nice here and there are a few people on the beach and even in the water. We walked around the old streets for a while, found an Internet access point to post our previous blogs visited the Duomo here and then went to the Saturday market where Mel picked up a leather backpack-purse for 5 Euros!

We met again with Mary Ellen’s cousins before their return to London and then headed out for a ride around this area. As usual, our GPS found some of the unusual ways to get from one place to another and we even wound up backing out of one street because it was getting too narrow for the car.

Tomorrow we will try again for Siracusa. We have learned that the weather forecast is about as reliable as it is in the US so we will just go and see what happens.

Ciao!

Tom
